I think it will proceed in a state by state manner. With Roberts as the Supreme Court Chief Justice I expect it will take some serious time before it is a legal, federal, sustained law.
20 yearsHow long do you think it will take for gay marriage to become legalized?
I still dont think I understand why it matters whether a man marries a woman or another man. I mean, what's so ironic is that ';traditional marriages'; are hardly held on to. Shouldn't we all be encourgaging life time partners regardless of sex?
The whole gay issue is about politicians pandering to the group of people who mean the most, the regular voters. Middle white americans with bible thumping beliefs.
What's worse, is the problem with adoption/children.
I say 10 years
How long do you think it will take for gay marriage to become legalized?
Here in the US I think it is going to go by State. My money would say that most blue States and any red States that are on the coasts will have it with in the next decade or so. As for hardcore evangelical red state areas? I just don't know.
Massachusetts looks like it is going to end up keeping it. California might make it law. Hopefully States like New York, Connecticut, Washington and others will follow. But who can say when a State like Utah, Idaho or Kansas will allow it? At the very least precedents are being sent. And the more wedding there are, the more straight people will be invited to attend them, the more society as a whole will realize how necessary and life affirming a commitment this is between two people who love each other.
We can't be complacent. Rights just won't be handed to us, we are going to have to work hard for everything we get. I'd register to vote, write your politicians at every level of government and contribute time and money to gay rights groups. The far right is not going to stop working to put us all back in the closet stripped of all our rights.
gay marriage will be legal after the 2012 elections. society is starting to come around with whats is going on. people are starting to accept the gay life style. now if we as a society can over come the racism we will be able to get along even better. we are after all living on this planet together
In the US I'd say about a decade. As for around the world it may take a century.
For example look at slavery. It was ousted by most major countries a little over a century ago but a few countries still have it.
I imagine (to the vary least) at least within a century, maybe sooner. I would like to have the marriage benefits.
Id give it about 5 or so years
we need some change
and honestly right now i really dont care who wins presidency
why is gay marriage illegal in the first place
some questions will never be answered.
It already legal opposite-sex couples can have a gay marriage if they work at it
I assume you mean in the US, if that's the case, then at a national level, I say within the next decade...if not sooner
in the next few years i hope. probably 10 for texas, which is where i live. :(
Soon I hope, it's getting ridiculous.
if its not legal in ten years, i'm moving to canada
