What would it be like to be married to an AF SERE instructor, we have an 18 mo daughter and good marriage.?

Please only answer if you are in the SERE field or married to an instructor. Do you enjoy it (after training of course) and or how is your marriage and family life. Thanks!! Just want to know if we should continue being excited. What would it be like to be married to an AF SERE instructor, we have an 18 mo daughter and good marriage.?
Of course you should continue to be excited.

The first few years of a SERE instructor are actually pretty stable. He's an instructor therefore he'll spend a lot of time at the school house teaching the SERE course. There are plenty of assignments within SERE to keep him home but there are some that will require a bit more commitment, this means deployments and TDYs that could keep him away often.

He'll have some options as he advances within the career so it's good that you both discuss any major decisions and come to a compromise.

In reality, a marriage is what two people make it. There are a lot of other jobs that require much more commitment (Special Operations jobs) in the Air Force and people manage to keep their marriages strong.

Communication is key .. always communicate. Never neglect telling each other your needs and your wants. You may not always get exactly what you want, but there is ALWAYS a means of compromise.

As long as you both continue to put 100% into your marriage, even if he does take an assignment that requires him to be gone often .. you can remain happy. What would it be like to be married to an AF SERE instructor, we have an 18 mo daughter and good marriage.?
He will be working long hours and possibly out on TDY (Temporary Duty) most of the time!
