Are states like Alabama and Mississippi ever going to legalize gay marriage like some of the other states?

Why are they so against homosexuality? Are states like Alabama and Mississippi ever going to legalize gay marriage like some of the other states?
All those rednecks are closet homos, and they lash out against homosexuality because of their perceived ';shame.'; They are to be pitied. Are states like Alabama and Mississippi ever going to legalize gay marriage like some of the other states?
Now I am from Alabama, and I support gay marriage. In 2006 there was a referendum concerning a constitutional amendment defining marriage as between a man and a woman, and 81% of Alabamans voted for it. Disgusting, I know. However, let us not forget that the other 19% voted against it; we're not all homophobes here.

It's a cultural thing mainly involving the older folks in these states; there are thousands of young and progressive Alabamans and Mississippians who will eventually take charge. For those of you who generalize every one of us, you're bigots yourselves.
What it will take is a decision by the US Supreme Court that gays have the same rights as anyone else. That will settle the issue once and for all.

That's how we legalized miscegenation, and 'sodomy'. And even abortion. Once the USSC decided, that was it.

And I really believe that will happen too. Maybe not -this- Supreme Court, but sooner than you might think.

Alabama and Mississippi will be the last to change, as they always have been. They will need to be dragged, kicking and screaming, into the 21st century.
People are ignorant.

They think that this dumb book called ';The Bible'; is 100% significant and true. They think that ';Jesus'; doesn't want people to be Homosexual, or they will burn in ';Hell';.

I highly doubt that they will ever legalize it.
These states held out to the end against blacks even going to school...what do you expect? They may never except the premise!
i dont think so. it will take decades
