Your friend may be confused because people compare the situations. Once interracial marriage was illegal and people say the definition of marriage was redefined then so it won't be the first time for marriage to be redefined if same-sex marriage is legalized in the future.

Prop 8 does not ban interracial marriage. It only bans marriage on couples who are both of the same sex. Race has nothing to do with it.
if both partners are homosexual it does, if not it doesn't.
I highly doubt that, especially in California.
