How much does a Marriage and Family Therapist get paid?

I am about to graduate high school and i am thinking about being a Marriage and Family Therapist I just wanted to know if they have a good wage and do you have to go to university for it??How much does a Marriage and Family Therapist get paid?
It varies vastly by area.

Yes, you need to go to college to become a marriage counselor. You will need to get your master's degree, not just your bachelor's degree. Typically, you would get your undergraduate degree in psychology, then continue onto graduate school. Where I live, couples counselors (I am one, I specialize in infidelity) do not get paid very well. The psychological industry is flooded with more and more people wanting psychological careers, so there are less jobs, and less good paying jobs. For this reason I work mainly as a nurse, and I offer couples counseling in my spare time on the weekends. But technically I am a psychologist, and I have my PsyD, which is a doctorate degree, so my salary is a bit higher, due to more education. even with that, I still make more money being an RN, which only required a 4 year bachelor's degree. I hope that helps. If you have any questions, just ask.How much does a Marriage and Family Therapist get paid?
BabyG, this is no offense, but you are a long way away from thinking about being a MFT. The MFT is a licensed position you need to qualify for after you have earned a Masters degree, which means 2-3 years of grad school...after your Bachelors. Your first step would be to go to university and major in psychology (which tends to be an impacted major in most areas). See how you like it, then go from there. As for earnings, today's MFT's general do not earn a good wage, compared with psychologists.
$85 an hour around here. Yes, you'll need some more education.
