Gay marriage or heterosexual divorce????
With a 51+% divorce rate amongst heterosexuals, it'd seem to me that divorce is a much bigger threat to marriage than gay marriage ever could be.
Anyone agree????
Which is the bigger threat to the sacred institution of marriage?
Dictating who can marry who.
Marriage is the most intensely personal decision you will ever make. When someone tells you who you can or should marry, the 'sacredness' is gone.Which is the bigger threat to the sacred institution of marriage?
I'm not sure why marriage is seen by some people as something that needs to be protected. What is so important about marriage?
Also, please explain why you believe homosexual marriage to be a threat to heterosexual marriage anyway? I'd much rather live in a world where people are free to marry who they choose than one where people are forced to hide in the closet, and may be socially pressured into an unhappy heterosexual marriage. Why would you wish that on anyone?
I understand that gay people have exactly the same rights as heterosexual people and, dont get me wrong, i am in no way a homophobe, In fact i have a few gay friends. However, i dont beleive gay people should have ';marriage'; so to speak. Im all for the union of gay people and hey whatever floats your boat, i also agree that the union of gay people should leave them with as many rights as the heterosexual married couples...however marriage in a religious sense has always denoted the union between a man and a woman..cant we just keep the churchies happy and say ';Marriage'; for a man and woman and ';union'; or anything of the like for gay people? it means the same thing anyway..
No.
Both are very unbiblical, yet Jesus did say that adultery is the only valid reason for divorce, whereas homosexuality is strongly refuted throughout the Bible.
The threat to sacred marriage is not the result (i.e. divorce), but the commitment firstly unto God and then unto your spouse.
Marriage without God cannot really be deemed ';sacred'; in any event, can it? Because only God is sacred - holy, untainted???
whether gays ';marry'; or not, same sex relationship is criminal in nature. Divorce is and will never be a criminal act, and many people that divorced later re-married. Yes divorces, in the majority of cases causes harm to children, as well as allows a peaceful end before abuse can enter. How many marriages needed to be ended by divorce to STOP a person from continually being harmed?
I agree with you.
But I guess what you call a sacred institution is just an anachronism still performed for romantic reasons. Nothing more.
Woe to him who says evil is good and good is evil.
Just because something is made legal it does not make it right.
The Bible- LEARN IT! LOVE IT! LIVE IT!
Does it matter? There is no such thing as ';gay marriage';. Marriage is between a man and his wife.
When was marriage ever sacred?
What is the divorce rate among homosexuals?
A husband might leave his wife just to be with ';his man';.
