Do tolerant Christians who believe marriage is just for a man and woman deserve the same tolerance?

Or are they just wrong?Do tolerant Christians who believe marriage is just for a man and woman deserve the same tolerance?
They can be wrong and still deserve tolerance, you know. The two aren't mutually exclusive, just as being a tolerant Christian (i.e. one who doesn't run around with a ';Kill all f*gs!'; sign) can think gay marriage is wrong.Do tolerant Christians who believe marriage is just for a man and woman deserve the same tolerance?
I'll put it this way.

Hypothetical situation: People who believe marriage is only for a man and a woman get their way.

Consequences: Same-sex couples cannot marry their lover. They do not receive the legal benefits associated with civil marriage, and are yet again treated as second-class citizens.

Hypothetical situation: Same-sex couples are able to get married.

Consequences: Opponent to same-sex marriage are upset because same-sex couples are allowed to get married.

Hmm...
How tolerant are you if you want the law to deny rights to certain American citizens just so it can reflect your personal values, though? Just because you can resist throwing rocks at gay couples in the park doesn't make you a pillar-mounted ideal of tolerance.

You're not tolerant if you're vocal of your belief that people who do not share your religion should adhere to its values. How'd you like it if the religious majority in this country was Jewish, and bacon was banned in 47 states for not being kosher?
Can't someone be wrong and deserve tolerance? Don't they believe you are wrong and yet tolerate you?

Edit:

DavoJo: EXACTLY, it effects the whole community. Anything that does that should be everybody's say.

'nother Edit:

ADR: perhaps you're right. Maybe not that tolerant, not enough to give up control. If I lived in that country, I'd really want to move. I don't want America should be tolerate everyting country, especially stuff that the majority doesn't want to tolerate. Tough luck
I believe that you should have the right to believe in anything you want. I, myself am bisexual and I cannot stand when gay people get all pissed off at christians who don't think they should be legally allowed to get married. A christian can have his belief - if we gays want our rights and beliefs then they should have theirs too. Why can't everyone just agree to disagree. And WHY do we need to be allowed to get married. To me, marriage is just a piece of paper. For christians its sacred, blah blah blah...it has more meaning and whatnot. For christians, sex is not allowed before marriage, so they probably want the whole marriage thing. But for us gays, we have sex before marriage and don't care because we don't have the religious thing- so why does marriage need to happen. Just say we're together and happy. Jeez!
As a Christian I don't really care if gays get married but few ask me what my views are. They immediately put me in a box and label me intolerant. Christians aren't the only ones who oppose gay marriage. I know several who have no religious beliefs that are opposed.
Life isn't about what you deserve or don't deserve, but what reality gives you regardless. Whatever that maybe, our character is shown through how we persevere. You live on a bitter world, it's foolish to think it owes you anything; it don't, and will not.
i dont know if they are wrong or right but im a str8 christian who thinks anyone in love shoul dbe able to legally get married
Well let me just put it this way - Men and women don't have to fight for the right to get married to one another.
