Would liberals support someone who agreed with most of their positions but opposed abortion and gay marriage?

I ask because often these two issues are deemed ';wedge issues'; and ';unimportant.';

So could Democrats win more if they ran more pro-life and anti same-sex marriage candidates? Why or why not?

Thanks.Would liberals support someone who agreed with most of their positions but opposed abortion and gay marriage?
It depends on what you mean by ';support';.

I view these issues as important enough to be deal breakers but it depends on the other choice in the election...Would liberals support someone who agreed with most of their positions but opposed abortion and gay marriage?
I think being Pro-Choice is pretty much a hallmark of the democratic party. But I'd like to point out that most of the moderate-centrist democrats do not support Same-Sex marriage. Now a good portion of dems and republicans don't support a constitutional ban on same-sex marriage, but it's quite a different thing I think.
I dare say I can't name many pro-gay marriage candidates that would require leadership that neither party has. As far as abortion goes and gay marriage too, I fail to see what the obsession for conservatives is with these two issues. I can say that that obsession isn't shared by most democrats.

Would I support them? No.

Would I vote for them? Depends on what the other side had to offer.
If a Democrat doesn't win because they are pro-choice, and support gay marriage,

That just shows that the old, rich, white, conservatives are still in control. Which is sad... it also proves that no one can remove religion from politics, which disgust me.

Soon the baby boomers will die (I mean like really soon, we can hope, except for my kick *** granny..who will live forever) and this crap won't be an issue. My generation sees freedom in a more realistic manner. FREEDOM through and through.... not freedom until you disobey GOD. which is how most of you washed up, miserable old fools live your lives, and try to force others to live it as well. I can bear disappointment until our turn arrives. (the youth)

It will be a fine day when America either A) crashes and burns B) Completely overthrows its government C) Changes its way %26lt;%26lt;which it won't... so A and B are the only choices.

DON'T FIGHT AGAINST THE YOUTH! BECAUSE WE'RE STRONG AND WE'RE RUDE RUDE PEOPLE

DON'T FIGHT AGAINST THE RESISTANCE!
A Christians ethics are defined by Jesus the Christ of the scriptures ( not Wrights styled jesus, he studied islam ( islam lies about the Jesus of scriptures BIG TIME ) and Cone and Fard, two uneducated black men of the 30's and 60's who wanted to murder all the white people and jews as well. The REAL Jesus forbids murder, period. )

A republican can choose to be either Christian or not. What he or she agrees with within their own party politics is flexible.

A democrat can choose to be either Christian or not. What he or she agrees with within the the party politics is flexible.

What Jesus said and did is inflexible though. People who truly choose to abide by the rules of life given by Jesus of scriptures..not fake jesus made up by people who disagree with Jesus ... must form their entire way of life based on how Jesus leads and commands.
The first goal is to win the election, and you don't win with what Americans consider extreme, maybe in a 2nd term if its not an issue

You wanna get married, they do them at my city hall, but Americans don't have the freedoms of Canada (yet)
i think they would. America is pretty much opposed to gay marriage. as for abortion, i think its something a party could learn to live with if the guy is really that good of a politician for the party.
IDK. PPl really vote with their pocket. So if you tell them they are going to save $2 they will vote for you. What they don't tell them is YOU ARE GOING TO PAY SO MUCH ON EVERYTHING ELSE THAT BY THE TIME NEXT ELECTION COMES AROUND YOU WILL HAVE TO VOTE FOR THEM, BECAUSE THAT $2 IS GOING TO BE THE ONLY POCKET MONEY THEY WILL HAVE LEFT OVER AFTER THE FINISH WITH THE COUNTRY!

I honestly don't care how the candidates stand on these issues. It isn't up to them to make laws about these issues. That isn't the President's job, and he has no authority in these areas whatsoever.
Libs aren't a tolerant bunch, you have to agree with them on everything. They threw lieberman under the bus on the war issue, even though he was there for everything else. Voters saw thing differently.
opposed abortion - fine with that

but Gay Marriage is a Civil Rights Issue.

so only if the candidate supported civil unions that are equal to marriage for gays on the federal level.
There are relatively few pro life, anti same sex marriage candidates. Whether people would vote for such people depends on how important those issues are to them personally.
Banning abortion would be chaotic and anti same sex marriage is childish. Why would I support that if not by mandate?
Abortion and gay marriage are not political issues.
If Democrats ran a more pro-life platform, the Republican Party would collapse and cease to exist.
depends on the other issues and who else is running.... but possibly...

some would not though... and that could hurt more than help...
They would vote for a rock if it had a D in front of its name.
no way. Peace
It wouldn't make a difference if Obama supported illegals getting drivers license. Oh Yeah! he does support that.

Whatever Obama tells them they will follow.
